Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
Had dinner at Lovely Day last night, and they played the best music from my youth. A lot of forgotten songs, I wish I had the playlist. After this song came on, I couldn't stop thinking about it...and how it needs to be back in daily rotation.

3FER FRIDAY! Built To Spill and Morning Benders
Built To Spill - Planting Seeds
Saw The Morning Benders last night and have had this song in my head ever since- even though we did karaoke after! They play a few more sold-out shows in NY this week, but if you have a chance to see them (Craigslist?), you are very lucky. And they are very special.
This song gives me the chills.

Jets to Brazil - Sea Anemone
The BSE archives (aka “Older Entries”) accompanied me through another crazy day. So many great posts. Here’s one from Jets to Brazil. I’m digging into my older music lately the stuff that never got transferred into itunes and sorta got buried into music purgatory, (i.e. one of those nondescript black Case Logic binders which has been parked on a shelf for several years, I’m not sure why this catalog system overwhelms me). Anyway, late 90s I listened to anything coming out of Jade Tree Records and probably liked only half of what I heard. Jets to Brazil is one of the bands I liked. It’s nice to sprinkle a little melancholy here and there. ;) This song makes me want to wind down for the day or lie down, neither of which is possible at the moment unfortunately.

Write About It Wednesday!!! - Blitzen Trapper "Heaven & Earth"
Hoping that this isn't a reposted song...
I just think this is a really nice song. It's good to listen to outside on a Sunday morning, bloody mary in hand while the sun is shining and the pigeons are playfully perched on a telephone wire above your bloody mary. Also - and this is a good one - perhaps a time when this song is used best... listening to it during the morning rush on a packed subway. It takes some stress out. Especially when you're pressed between a sweaty hipster and the girl from precious... kinda just makes everything okay if only for a few minutes.
...but don't take my word for it. Have a listen and chillax for few minutes. You'll feel better.

At the Drive in – Napolean Solo
I’m double posting this today because I love this album THAT much. I took a brief 10 year hiatus from listening to this but its been coming back on extra heavy rotation lately. One of my favorite albums to listen to late night at the studio: in/CASINO/out. Classic, reminds me of many sleepless nights in grad school.

Devendra Banhart's facial hair looks a little douchey, but that's no reason to avoid watching the video- Fab Moretti from the Strokes, some guy from MGMT, and GZA from Wu-Tang Clan are some just some of the people who make appearances. Plus, it's a pretty sweet song.

RIP Malcolm Mclaren
An eclectic fellow. In memorial to his life, a French version of Anarchy In The UK called L'Anarchie pour l'UK which is part of the soundtrack to the film 'The Great Rock N' Roll Swindle'. Mclaren plays the part of "The Embezzler". He accomplished more in his short 64 years than most. May he rest in peace.
Charlotte Gainsbourg "Me And Jane Doe"
I really like this song. For no other reason than I like the way it makes me feel. Hope you all like it. It's my song of the day for sure.

Pete Yorn - For Nancy ('Cos It Already Is)
Safe version:
I bought this Pete Yorn album because I had seen it everywhere- in stores, in magazines- and was genuinely curious.
Embarrassing fact:
I actually bought it because I thought he looked really hot on the album cover.
I really liked it though, and listened to it on repeat for ages.
Now, however, I just don't connect with it like I used to, and sometimes I'm not quite sure why I ever liked it. But this song is still on my running mix because it's a good for kicking up the pace. I'll have to give the album another listen soon...Maybe there'll be a renaissance.
