2 for Tuesday

Dawn Penn's earliest recordings were for Prince Buster around 1966, however by 1970, Penn had left the music industry and moved to the Virgin Islands. Nevertheless, in 1987 she returned to Jamaica and music. This recording is from 2002 at the Blazing Fire Tour in NYC. This track has since been covered and sampled by the artists Kano, Hexstatic, Jae Millz, Ghostface Killah,Mims, Eve featuring Stephen Marley and Rihanna.





Black Uhuru are a Jamaican reggae group formed in 1972, initially as Uhuru (Swahili for 'freedom'). The group has undergone several line-up changes over the years, and had their most successful period in the 1980s, with their album Anthem winning the first ever Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1985.
